Ederson has admitted he doesn’t know why his proposed move to Manchester United broke down earlier this summer.
Manchester United agreed a deal to sign the midfielder from Atalanta for a fee of around £35m in June. However, the deal collapsed after an issue was found in the player’s medical, a situation that left both Ederson and Atalanta confused.
Manchester United instead turned to alternatives, signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to add to their midfield. The Red Devils are also closing in on the capture of Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
Ederson has since signed a new deal at Atalanta and has now opened up on his confusion at his failed move to the Premier League.
“I honestly don’t know what happened,” Ederson told Sky in Italy.
“I always had interest from other clubs, and I could’ve gone to another English side.
“The tests went well, I don’t know what changed. I’ve been with Atalanta for four years and always played.
“I could’ve just waited to see what happened, but the great rapport with the club convinced me to stay and sign a new contract.”
