Eddie Howe has admirers within Chelsea as the West London side step up their search for a new manager.
The Newcastle manager is part of a long list of potential candidates to replace Liam Rosenior, who was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Howe has endured a challenging campaign at Newcastle and there has been speculation over his future at St James’ Park.
The 48-year-old joined Newcastle in 2021 and helped steer the Magpies clear of relegation worries in his opening months. Since then, he’s twice qualified for the Champions League and ended the club’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.
However, frustrations have crept in over the club’s inability to compete financially with the Premier League’s top teams, despite their wealthy ownership.
Howe has insisted he remains focused on success at Newcastle but could be subject of an approach from Chelsea.
talkSPORT are reporting that Howe has admirers within Chelsea circles, with other names in the frame including Cesc Fabregas, Francesco Fariola, Filipe LuÃs and Edin Terzic. Outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is ‘expected to be one of the leading names approached’.
