Liam Rosenior has said Chelsea will make a late call on Joao Pedro when his team face Brighton in the Premier League tomorrow evening.
Pedro missed the weekend defeat to Manchester United and will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s trip to former club Brighton. The ex-Seagulls striker has returned to training on Monday, but remains a doubt for the clash.
Rosenior confirmed that Estevao Willian is definitely out, though Enzo Fernandez is fit to feature. Chelsea head to Brighton aiming to address an alarming run of form, that has seen the West Londoners lose four consecutive Premier League games.
“Joao Pedro will be a late call. He has been on the pitch today. We will make a decision on him tomorrow morning,” Rosenior told the media on Monday.
“Estevao is definitely out for tomorrow and we are doing extra tests on him. Enzo [Fernandez] is absolutely fine.”
The fixture with fellow European hopefuls Brighton kick-starts a massive week for Chelsea. The Seagulls are only a point behind Chelsea in the Premier League, as part of a tight race for Europe. Only three points splits Chelsea in sixth and Fulham in 12th. Following the trip to the Amex, Chelsea face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.
“It is a massive week. It is what you are in football for. Key games,” Rosenior said.
“We have a huge game and then an FA Cup semi-final. That is why you are in football, but now is the time to deliver and that is what we have to work towards.”
