Dyche: I am proud of my players despite West Ham defeat

Sean Dyche was trying to take the positives from his Burnley side’s 4-2 defeat to West Ham in London today.

Burnley are now 15th in the league with just two wins so far this season.

“We reacted well to falling behind. The mentality and energy were good in the first half. The third goal is a real blow and we are chasing the game when they score the last one.’’ Dyche told BBC’s MOTD.

“I’m not disappointed with the mentality of the team but we can’t give away the ball so cheaply. There are some details in that game that need working on.

Burnley’s impressive 7th-place finish in last season’s Premier League was underpinned by solid defensive performances. However, The Clarets have already conceded 25 league goals in 11 games this season.

“You have to start with the basics. We have been punished to be fair. Sometimes it is just the details. The mentality was intact today but there are still lots of things we can do better. We are a team improving and growing. It’s a hard one to take. I am proud of these players at what they have achieved so far.”

Next up for Burnley is a trip to Leicester City where Dyche and his men would be doing very well to pick up all three points.
