Sean Dyche admits Burnley are in a ‘very healthy position’ after watching his side beat relegation rivals Cardiff City 2-0 at Turf Moor.

Chris Wood scored twice to secure a vital win for Dyche’s side, who now move 11 points clear of their opponents who occupy the final position in the Premier League‘s bottom three.

Dyche was quick to state that his side are not mathematically safe, but admits the Clarets are in a strong position to retain their Premier League status for next season.

“No I don’t think you talk about that because you want it factually. You can’t guarantee it but I think were in a very, very healthy position,” Dyche told the BBC’s MOTD.

“The game should already have been over. Chris wood missed form short range, Westwood missed two one-on-ones and the game should have been over. It’s the simple things which we’ve done well historically and we did that. The biggest thing is the basics. Simple things aren’t as simple when there’s confusion and the players deserve a lot of credit.”
