Arsenal have been given a boost in their long standing interest in German playmaker, Julian Draxler.

The Gunners have been interested in signing Draxler for at least two-and-a-half years, dating back to his time at Schalke. However they have twice missed out on his signagure with the Germany international first moving to Wolfsburg in 2015 before moving to Paris Saint-Germain 12 months ago.

However, the arrival of the world’s two most expensive players, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, have signalled Draxlers game time being more restricted.

The 24-year-old has started just 10 games in Ligue 1 this season scoring just two goals.

According to The Sun, Arsenal have been told by PSG that they can finally sign the player they have admired for so long, but have slapped a £40m asking price on his head.

Arsene Wenger is eyeing up a move for Draxler as a potential replacement for want away forward and contract rebel, Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez was close to an exit from the Emirates back in the summer, with Manchester City heavily interested. Arsenal are thought to be open to cashing in on him if they themselves can achieve a fee of £40m.
