Borussia Dortmund are said to be ‘confident’ of persuading Jadon Sancho to ignore overtures from the Premier League and sign a new one-year deal to remain with the Bundesliga side.
Sancho has established himself as arguably the hottest property in world football following another stand-out campaign for Dortmund, scoring 14 goals and providing a further 15 assists in just 23 league appearances to fire Lucien Favre’s side’s title challenge.
Manchester United and Chelsea are amongst the frontrunners to secure the signing of the 20-year-old this summer, whilst a host of Europe’s leading clubs are also monitoring the winger’s situation ahead of a potential big-money move.
Dortmund are under no pressure to sell their prized asset, however, and according to Forbes will offer Sancho a one-year extension to stay at the Westfalenstadion.
The deal will see the youngster’s salary rise to €10m-per-year – an increase of €4m – and the German giants are said to be ‘confident’ their likely participation in next season’s Champions League will give them an advantage in persuading Sancho to remain for at least one more season.
Sancho is believed to value participation amongst Europe’s elite above all else when considering his future, and qualification for next season’s Champions League could prove crucial in the hopes of both United and Chelsea in prizing the star away from Dortmund this summer.
