Gianluigi Donnarumma has not ruled out running down his contract at Paris Saint-Germain this season.

The Italy international has entered the final 12 months of his deal in Paris and there has been no agreement reached on an extension. Donnarumma was a crucial part of the club’s historic treble season in 2024/25, being named the Champions League’s Best Goalkeeper as PSG won the competition for the first time.

After frustration in contract talks, PSG are now closing in on the signing of Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, as the European champions prepare a succession plan.

PSG have reached terms with their Ligue 1 rivals on a €40m deal. Chevalier was named Ligue 1’s Best Goalkeeper in 2024/25, beating Donnarumma to the award.

Offers will then be considered for Donnarumma, with PSG reluctant to lose the 26-year-old as a free agent next summer.

Donnarumma’s camp have held exploratory talks with Manchester United over a potential move to the Premier League, while Chelsea are also understood to be monitoring the situation. United are exploring the signing of a new goalkeeper to compete with – or replace – Andre Onana.

However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Donnarumma has not ruled out staying at the Parc des Princes. Despite the imminent arrival of Chevalier, Donnarumma is not against seeing out his contract and exploring his options as a free agent next summer.
