Done Deal: Zaha signs new long-term Crystal Palace contract

Wilfried Zaha has signed a new five-year contract with Crystal Palace, the South London club announced today.

Zaha was heavily linked with a £75 million move to Chelsea and Spurs during the summer transfer window, but the talented winger has now committed his long-term future to his boyhood club.

The Ivory Coast international came through the youth ranks at Selhurst Park before his talent caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, who made Zaha his final signing as Manchester United manager in 2013.

However, things did not quite work out for the skilful attacker at Old Trafford and he rejoined Crystal Palace permanently in 2015, after impressing during a loan spell.

Zaha has finally begun to fulfil his undoubted potential on a regular basis in recent seasons, and he was instrumental in the Eagles surviving relegation from the Premier League last season.

The 25-year-old will now become Palace’s highest paid player and he expressed delight upon signing his new contract.

“I’m very pleased. Obviously, I just wanted to get it over and done with, so I can just focus on the season. I’m buzzing that we managed to get it sorted.” Zaha told Palace TV.

Palace will face Liverpool on Monday Night Football in their next Premier League fixture.
