Henrikh Mkhitaryan has completed his move from Manchester United to Arsenal in a sensational swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.
Mkhitaryan only moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016, but faced a difficult time at the club, and seemingly failed to adjust to the league quickly enough.
His performances for the club have seen him draw criticism from Jose Mourinho, who has left him out of a number of match day squads altogether, with Jesse Lingard taking his place in the number 10 role in recent weeks.
Mkhitaryan has signed a ‘long term’ deal at the Emirates and speaking to the club website, the Armenian said:
“I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history.”
He could be joined at Arsenal by his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The pair linked up excellently during the 2015/16 season especially, a season which saw Mkhitaryan win the player of the year award in the Bundesliga after scoring 23 goals and providing an incredible 32 assists in all competitions. The Gabon striker has been linked with a £53m move to the Premier League club.
