Higuain: Chelsea an opportunity I had to take

Gonzalo Higuain has admitted that the chance to join Chelsea was an opportunity he simply couldn’t turn down after sealing his loan move to the Blues from Juventus.

Chelsea tonight confirmed the signing of the 31-year-old Argentina international on loan until the end of the season where he will wear the number nine shirt which has been vacant since the summer after Alvaro Morata opted to wear 29 instead.

Higuain will be reunited with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge after the pair worked so successfully together during their time at Napoli, and the prolific striker has admitted that he is looking forward to competing in the Premier League.

“When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself I had to take it. It’s a team I’ve always liked that has a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I’ve always wanted to play in,” Higuain told chelseafc.com.

“I now hope I can give back that trust Chelsea have shown me out on the pitch. I can’t wait to start and I hope to adapt as soon as possible.”
