Brighton & Hove Albion have today finalised the signing of Austrian international Markus Suttner, a deal which looked to be at a deadlock a week ago
His former club Ingolstadt had been playing hard to get, rejecting the Albion’s first bid. Rumours on the Twittersphere suggest a new bid of £3.8m clinched the deal.
Suttner now joins up with the rest of the squad, including another new Seagull and former Ingolstadt teammate Pascal Groß, at the club’s training camp in Suttner’s native Austria
The signing appears to show a desire by the club to land players experienced at top flight and international levels with Suttner, capped 18 times by Austria and making over 450 appearances across the German Bundesliga and the Austrian Bundesliga, joining Australian international Maty Ryan and Groß, another experienced German Bundesliga player.
It also fills a much needed hole at left back with the club previously only having Gaetan Bong as the only natural left back.
