Chelsea star to make Atletico Madrid move despite transfer ban

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will return to Atletico Madrid this summer according to reports in Spain.

Spanish publication AS claim that the Brazilian born Spain international will return to Atletico Madrid this summer, but will not play football again until January due to the Rojiblancos transfer ban.

Despite being able to complete the signing during this summer, the ban means that they are unable to register any new players until 2nd January 2018.

Atletico have to option of sending Costa out on loan until then to maintain his match fitness and form, however Atleti’s technical directors prefer to keep the player at the club under the guidance of Diego Simeone.

Despite scoring 22 goals in 42 appearances for the Blues last season, helping the club to reclaim the Premier League title, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has informed the 28-year-old that he is not a part of his plans for next season and he is free to leave.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is widely expected to be Costa’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.
