Defoe to complete Rangers transfer

Jermain Defoe looks set to be on the move again, with reports claiming he is set to sign for Rangers.

The 36-year-old is set to join up with Rangers on an 18-month loan deal, a move that is likely to bring an end of his playing days in the Premier League.

He is a player who has seen plenty of transfer activity throughout his career having played for West Ham, Spurs, Portsmouth, Toronto, Sunderland and Bournemouth in his illustrious career.

His move to the Vitality Stadium came just 18 months ago following the Black Cats relegation to the Championship, although his spell with the Cherries hasn’t quite gone to plan, with Eddie Howe using Callum Wilson and Josh King as his first choice strikers this season.

Defoe has been restricted to just four substitute appearances in the league this season, with his last EPL goal coming all the way back in March.

He will provide additional firepower to Steven Gerrard’s side, with the Gers having put themselves in a position to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title for the first time since their financial struggles.

They are currently level on points with their Old Firm rivals Celtic, although they have played one game more than their Glasgow neighbours.
