Defender set to snub £60m Chelsea switch

Despite reports that a deal was close, reports today suggest that Alex Sandro could sensationally snub a move to Chelsea.

This is according to The Sun, who claim that the Juventus defender will reject a switch to Stamford Bridge by signing a new deal with the Serie A Champions worth in the region of £93,000-a-week.

They claim that directors Fabio Paratici and Beppe Marotta met with boss Massimiliano Allegri to thrash out a suitable offer to the Brazilian. His decision to stay could also be helped by rumours that the Champions League finalists are interested in signing his good friend Danilo from Real Madrid after the pair played together at FC Porto.

Sandro has been linked with making a £60m move to the Premier League winners, but this news will only add to the frustration of Antonio Conte.

The Italian is believed to be unhappy at the clubs lack of transfer activity so far, and despite moves for Tiemoue Bakayoko, Romelu Lukaku and others being close, there have been no new additions to the Champions’ squad with just days to go before the start of pre-season.

Chelsea have also been linked with Kostas Manolas and Leonardo Bonucci as they look to strengthen the heart of their defence ahead of a much busier fixture list than last season, thanks to the return of the Champions League.
