Declan Rice ‘excited’ by prospect of joining Arsenal

Declan Rice is reportedly ‘excited’ by a potential summer transfer to Arsenal.

Rice’s future has been the subject of speculation for a number of years, with both Manchester United and Chelsea having been linked with an interest in the midfielder.

However, West Ham’s valuation of over £100 million has put pay to any interest developing, with the England international remaining in East London until now.

United have since signed Casemiro to anchor the club’s midfield, while Chelsea splashed a British transfer record fee to bring in Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January. Those deals have now seen Arsenal emerge as favourites to land Rice.

Champions League-chasing Newcastle have also been linked with an ambitious move for the 24-year-old, though according to talkSPORT, it is Arsenal’s internet that ‘excites’ him.

Rice will only have a year remaining on his deal at the London Stadium this summer, though West Ham do have an option to extend his contract until 2025. Rice has turned down several proposals of a new deal, though the Hammers are expected to hold out for their £100 million valuation.
