Smith urges Aston Villa to ‘capitalise’ on run of home games

Aston Villa are hoping to turn around their recent bad form and make a run for the playoffs.

The Villains have only secured one win out of their last five league games, putting them five points outside the top six and the final playoff spot.

The club may get a reprieve in the form of two consecutive home games, beginning with this weekend’s tie against red hot Hull City, who have won their last five on the bounce.

Manager Dean Smith believes this is the perfect opportunity to get their season back on track and make a run at promotion to the Premier League.

“We have to capitalise. I love playing there – it’s a special atmosphere and a great stadium,” Smith told the press ahead of his sides clash with Hull on Saturday.

“We’ve got a very big following and generally we’ve been good at Villa Park – with some big wins.

“But we’ve not won for a few games now and it’s left us frustrated. We have to overcome teams who sit behind the ball when they come to us.

“We’ve got the quality to do it.”
