Liverpool look set to beat off competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal to secure the signing of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked to a host of England’s biggest clubs over the last couple of months, although reports in the Sun today suggest that the player sees his future at Anfield.
Lemar rose to prominence during Monaco’s superb run to the Champions League semi-finals last season, and quickly became one of Europe’s most sought after young attacking talents.
The left footed France international is renowned for his devastating pace, skill and shooting ability.
He came close to joining Arsenal during the summer transfer window after Monaco accepted a £90 million pound bid, although the player decided against a move to The Emirates.
Lemar has made clear to Monaco that he has no intention of signing an extension to his contract that runs until 2020, and Liverpool will be hopeful that they can secure a deal for less than the £90 – 100 million the French side have previously been quoting to interested clubs.
