Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is an option to become the next head coach of Bayern Munich.
Bayern are assessing candidates to become head coach after confirming that Thomas Tuchel will leave the the club at the end of the current campaign.
The German champions have endured a difficult domestic campaign and sit 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the title race, with the Bavarian’s 11-year grip on the Bundesliga likely to end this season.
Bayern have made Xabi Alonso their leading candidate for the role with the Spaniard having led Leverkusen within touching distance of a maiden Bundesliga crown.
Alonso made 117 appearances for Bayern during his playing career and the achievements of the club’s former midfielder at their divisional rivals has placed him at the top of their coaching wish-list.
However, Liverpool are also pushing to appoint Alonso and Bayern have put De Zerbi high on their list of alternatives.
Sky Germany are reporting that Bayern’s director of sport Max Erbl is a ‘big fan’ of De Zerbi, who led Brighton to European qualification for the first time in their history with a top-six finish in the Premier League last season.
De Zerbi is ‘informed’ on Bayern’s interest in his services, though no decision has been made. Barcelona are also admirers of the Italian with Xavi set to step down at the Camp Nou in the summer.
