Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt says he is ‘excited’ about his upcoming transfer and insists he will make a logical decision on his future.
The Dutch defender has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in world football after a superb season with the Amsterdam side, captaining Erik ten Hag’s team to the Champions League semi-finals and securing a domestic double.
The 19-year-old is set to leave the club this summer and has been strongly linked with moves to Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus, with De Ligt admitting one option stands out as he prepares to make a decision on his future.
“I am very excited about what could happen in the near future. I am also trying to stay calm, though,” he told RTL4.
“I view this as a challenge — that is the most important thing.
“There are several options and I really want to pick the best one. Logically, one option is better than another.
