David Silva has revealed that his move from Valencia to Manchester City was the right move at the right time, despite interest from some of Spain’s biggest clubs.
Silva swapped the sunshine of Western Spain for the moody miserable skies of Manchester back in 2010 and has since gone on to become a Man City legend, earning the nickname Merlin due to his magic with the ball at his feet.
At the time of his transfer, the now former Spain international was wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and had previously been linked to Manchester United, but he has said he chose to move to the Etihad because they simply showed more desire to sign him:
“City wanted me,” he says in an interview for the Premier League Show.
“They had been calling me since December, asking me to come and play for them.
“I thought, ‘who wants me? City want me, so that’s where I’ll go’.
“Back then I was living with my parents and they were getting divorced and it was the right time to get away from there, from Spain, and live a new experience. It turns out I made the right move.”
