David De Gea is set to sign a new mega money contract extension with Manchester United, according to reports today.
United signed De Gea as a highly-rated 20-year-old from his boyhood club Atletico Madrid for £18.9 million in 2011.
De Gea would initially struggle to the physical demands of the Premier League, but over time he would go on to establish himself as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, and he has won Manchester United’s Player of The Year Award in four of the last five seasons.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with signing the Spain international for several seasons now, but with former Chelsea ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois having moved to the Bernabeu, that speculation finally seems ready to be put to bed once and for all and De Gea will commit his long term future to United.
News first broke that De Gea had agreed new big money contract at Old Trafford before the World Cup, with the Mirror reporting today that 27-year-old ‘keeper will finally put pen to paper in the coming weeks.
