World Cup debutant Curacao is set to play against Germany in their opening match of the tournament on Sunday in a Group E encounter.
Curacao secured their place at the World Cup with a historic 0-0 draw against Jamaica in late 2025. Their recent friendly performances have been inconsistent.
They suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Scotland towards the end of May but responded strongly by beating Aruba 4-0 in their final warm-up match, boosting morale ahead of their tournament debut.

Head coach Dick Advocaat has a fully fit squad available for this historic occasion. Kenji Gorré has overcome a minor knee issue and is ready to play, while striker Jürgen Locadia is also available.
Locadia had been sent off in a friendly against Scotland, but that suspension does not apply to World Cup matches, meaning he can feature in this game.
Curacao will depend on experience and leadership to compete with Germany. The midfield will feature the Bacuna brothers, Leandro and Juninho, alongside Livano Comenencia.
Tahith Chong, formerly of Manchester United’s youth setup, is expected to offer speed and creativity on the wings.
In defence, goalkeeper Eloy Room will be supported by a back four consisting of Shurandy Sambo, Jurien Gaari, Armando Obispo, and Sherel Floranus.
