Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest – Match preview and team news
- Date: Sunday, 11th October.
- Kick-off: 2pm BST.
- Venue: Selhurst Park, London.
Crystal Palace team news
Pierre Sage’s squad faces key absences but receives vital fitness boosts ahead of today’s clash at Selhurst Park. The Eagles remain without star forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, who despite returning to light grass training after a hamstring injury, is not yet match-ready.
Defensively, Palace are shorthanded as Dean Henderson and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined with ankle and muscle issues respectively, while Axel Disasi misses out entirely to serve a suspension following his recent direct red card.
However, it is not all bad news for the hosts. Anan Khalaili has successfully recovered from a minor knock sustained during international duty and is available for selection.
Additionally, winger Ismaïla Sarr has been passed fit following a series of strong training sessions over the break, providing Sage with a much-needed attacking weapon as they look to secure a crucial home victory.
Nottingham Forest team news
Manager Oliver Glasner returns to his former stadium dealing with several fresh selection headaches following a costly international break.
Forest suffer a massive defensive blow as central defender Nikola Milenković has been ruled out after sustaining a painful bone bruise to his knee.
The visitors are also depleted in attack, with Igor Jesus sidelined for the next few weeks due to a calf muscle injury. Compounding Glasner’s selection issues, fullback Neco Williams is highly doubtful to feature after falling ill immediately upon returning from international duty.
Furthermore, Nicolò Savona remains out of contention as he continues to nurse a knee injury. These sudden absences force Glasner to reshuffle his starting lineup and rely heavily on his squad depth to combat a physical Palace side in what promises to be a testing away fixture.
Form
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace enters this match searching for momentum, sitting 15th with four points from five games. Under Pierre Sage, the Eagles have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games dating back into last season. Their only league victory this term was a 3-2 win at Fulham, followed by a goalless draw at Leeds. Critically, Palace has struggled heavily at home, losing both of their league games at Selhurst Park so far.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest sits just one point ahead of Palace but boasts formidable away form. The Tricky Trees have won all four of their league trips to London in 2026 and have scored two or more goals in their last seven away games. While they stumbled before the international break, losing 1-0 to Coventry, their previous road results include an impressive 2-1 win at Aston Villa and a 2-2 draw at Liverpool.
Predicted lineups
Crystal Palace: Benitez; Richards, Ahanor, Canvot; Khalaili, Timber, Wharton, Mitchell; Kamada, Sarr; Strand Larsen
Nottingham Forest: Sels; Cunha, Diomande, Murillo; Munoz, Schlager, McAtee, Williams; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Delap
