Crystal Palace close in on signing defensive duo

After a shaky start to the season, which eventually cost Alan Pardew his job, Crystal Palace are planning on defensive reinforcements this month.

It is believed that new manager Sam Allardyce is close to agreeing deals to bring TWO new defenders to Selhurst Park.

The former England manager is looking to sign Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal and former Manchester United man Patrice Evra.

Both men have struggled for game time at their respective clubs and have been offered a move to the Premier League club.

Evra, now at Juventus, had been linked with a return to Old Trafford, although that seems an unlikely move now. He had also been linked with a move to Valencia.

Jenkinson on the other hand spent the last two seasons on loan at West Ham United, initially being signed by the now Crystal Palace manager, but failed to make enough improvements to challenge Hector Bellarin at the Emirates. He could now be set for a trip across London to join up with Big Sam’s latest survival scrap on loan.
