Crystal Palace have made a £16million bid for Arsenal defender Callum Chambers according to the transfer rumours.
The Telegraph claim that Palace have made the move for the 22-year-old, who spent the last season on loan at Middlesbrough.
Despite ‘Boro’s relegation to the Championship, Chambers was credited with having a good season. It certainly wasn’t down to the defence why Middlesbrough dropped out of the top flight, but more to a lack of goals at he other end.
The former Southampton defender was a key part of the England U21 team that reached the semi finals of this summers European Championships, and is capable of playing in a variety of positions, including full back, centre back and as a defensive midfielder.
Should Palace get a deal done for Chambers, he could be one of a number of departures from the Emirates this summer.
Wojciech Szczesny is on the brink of a £10m to Juventus, while there is widespread speculation surrounding the futures of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.
