Coventry City vs Brighton – Predicted lineup and team news

Frank Lampard’s side sit bottom of the table without a goal to their name, and a defeat would match a club-worst run of four straight league losses to open a campaign, last seen in 1919-20. There is some cause for optimism, though: the only side to ever lose all of their opening four top-flight games without scoring, Crystal Palace in 2017-18, went on to finish a comfortable 11th that season.

Coventry City team news

Haji Wright (thigh), Kaine Kesler-Hayden (thigh), Josh Eccles and Luke Woolfenden (knee) are all out for several more weeks. New signing Sidiki Cherif is still building up his match fitness and did not travel to the Etihad Stadium last weekend. Stephen Mfuni, on loan from Manchester City, returns to availability having been ineligible to face his parent club.

Substitutes Loum Tchaouna and Ellis Simms both spurned good chances after coming off the bench against City, so Lampard is expected to stick with Ephron Mason-Clark, Jack Rudoni and Taiwo Awoniyi from kick-off. The middle four of Milan van Ewijk, Matt Grimes, Frank Onyeka and Jay Dasilva should also be unchanged after a battling display at the Etihad.
