Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Barcelona’s £100 million rated, Brazilian attacker Philippe Coutinho, who is rumoured to be unsettled at the Catalan club.
The former Liverpool player, made the switch the Camp Nou in January 2018 for £142 million, helping Barca to a League and Cup double in his first few months at the club.
This season though he has fallen down the pecking order, with Ousmane Dembele regularly starting ahead of him. The Brazil international has started just ten La Liga games this season and Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has publicly pushed the player to become a more integral part of the team.
The Express is now reporting that Chelsea have made enquiries about the Brazil international’s availability and wouldn’t be put off by a £100 million price tag. Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring the station as they look to battle the Stamford Bridge outfit for a top four finish this season.
Both clubs will be well aware of what Coutinho could offer them. The 26-year-old played 201 games for Liverpool, after signing from Inter Mina for £8.5 million in 2013. He became a fan favourite at Anfield, scoring 41 Premier League goals and helped the club regain their Champions League status.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp moved to distance his club with any stories linking them with a move for their former playmaker. However, reports indicate that he would be open to a sensational return to the Premier League, if his situation at Barcelona does not improve.
