After the drama of his failed move to Barcelona, many Liverpool fans where concerned with how Philippe Coutinho would react, and how the disappointment of not securing the move would effect his form this season.
However, watching the Brazil international in action on Saturday against Brighton, it’s not too much of a stretch to say he is playing better then he has ever done for The Reds.
As sublime as Coutinho’s audacious under-the-wall free kick was in the 87th minute at the Amex on Saturday what had gone before was just as impressive.
The 25-year-old was phenomenal throughout his sides 5-1 victory; he scored, had two assists and played a major part in Liverpool’s two other goals. All of Coutinho’s skillset was on shown this weekend, the dribbles, the swivels, the delicate through balls and most importantly end product.
The Brazilian international has now scored eight goals and provided four assist in his 12 appearance for the Anfield club this season. If he continues in producing the goods at his current level he will easily surpass his best ever season in England, which was in 2015/2016 when he returned figures of ten goals and seven assists.
With the diminutive Brazil international in top form and Liverpool back into the top four with their fifth win in six Premier League games, things are starting to look really good for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The general consensus is of course that Coutinho’s desired move to Barcelona will eventually be happen, its just a matter of when not if, and the most likely scenario is that he moves to the Nou Camp next summer.
However, if the little magician keeps up his superb form and helps to fire Liverpool to a successful season, he will move onto pastures new next June with the blessings of the vast majority of Reds fans.
