In a huge blow to Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho has reportedly agreed a transfer to Barcelona, and is willing to put pressure on the club to make it happen.
Spanish publication Sport claims that the Brazilian playmaker has ‘said yes’ to a move to the Catalan club this summer.
They say that Coutinho wants to wear the famous shirt and believes that Liverpool must negotiate his Anfield exit.
The report says that Barcelona initially contacted Coutinho to assess his willingness to move to La Liga. They explained the him why they want to sign him and what role he would play. It was made clear that he would be a starter in the first team.
Coutinho is very happy at Anfield and has recently signed a new long-term deal, meaning any deal to take him to Barcelona will not come cheap. However, after being given reassurances by the Spanish giants, Coutinho is willing to put pressure on Liverpool to facilitate his summer exit.
Coutinho has shown his commitment to Liverpool already by turning down a move to a reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but the chance to move to Barcelona seems seemingly too irresistible to ignore.
However, there is a long way to go in the negotiations, and this could be one of the long-running transfer saga’s of the summer.
