Conte: ‘Morata is a big loss’

Antonio Conte has admitted that Alvaro Morata will be a big loss for Chelsea during their upcoming festive fixture against Everton.

The striker came off the bench during Wednesday nights Carabao Cup quarter final, to score a 91st minute winner. After the goal, the Spaniard was booked for what was deemed by the referee to be an excessive celebration. The booking was his fifth yellow card of the season, something with has earned him a one match ban.

 

 

Speaking after the game, Conte said:

“I must be honest, I didn’t see it.

“It’s a big loss as we’ve a tough game against Everton.

“It’s a pity.”

Morata has scored 11 goals for club and country this season, propelling Chelsea to third in the league, the Carabao Cup semi finals and the knockout stages of the Champions League.
