Former West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has thrown his backing behind the potential signing of Samir Nasri, saying he will add ‘something different’ to the Hammers squad.
West Ham have been linked with a move for the former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder in recent days, with the former France international available on a free transfer following his ban after being found guilty by the World Anti Doping Agency for receiving an intravenous drip of 500 millilitres of water containing nutrients.
That ban is set to expire in December, and he is said to be close to teaming up with Hammers coach Manuel Pellegrini, who he worked with during his time at Man City.
A number of West Ham fans have voiced their frustration at the reports, but former Hammers striker Carlton Cole thinks that it could be a smart move:
“I think the manager has a good relationship with him,” Cole told Sky Sports.
“We know his class, he’s a classy player.
“He will bring something different to the squad and he has that experience too.
“It will be a great addition to the squad but it depends what the manager wants and what the owners want.”
Nasri is currently training with the Hammers in a bid to prove his fitness.
