Everton midfielder James McCarthy met with Ronald Koemam last week and told the manager that he wanted to leave the club, and there is no shortage of interest for his signature.
Since Martinez’s sacking late last season, McCarthy has seen his opportunities limited under new boss Ronald Koeman, and despite playing in all of Evertons opening three games, it has not been in his preferred central midfielder position, but instead as a makeshift wing back.
Championship club Newcastle United have been strongly linked with making a £20million bid for the midfielder who moved to Goodison Park three years ago, following Martinez down the M58 from Wigan.
Another club interested in signing the Irish international is Premier League champions Leicester City. Claudio Ranieri is desperately trying to add a new central midfielder and Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi is at the top of his list. However, the €25million release clause in his contract with the La Liga club is also believed to be interesting Juventus, leaving Leicester to have McCarthy as an alternative.
