Christopher Nkunku Stats in 2022/23

Nkunku is one of the brightest talents in Europe and has been outstanding in his position in the Bundesliga last season. The 25 year old is expected to bring versatility into the Chelsea forward and is expected to score a lot of goals under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Nkunku, who made 25 appearances for the Bundesliga this season and registered 16 goals and six assists, can also play as the No. 10 forward.

Nkunku has signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge and will formally join Chelsea on July 1.

“Christopher has proven himself one of the standout attacking players in European football over the past two seasons and will add quality, creativity, and versatility to our squad,” said co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley of Chelsea.

He has proven his talent at the top level when playing for France and RB Leipzig, and we are eager for him to reunite with his new teammates before the start of the new campaign.

After acquiring 16-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder Kendry Paez from Independiente del Valle for €20 million (£17.27 million), Nkunku is Chelsea’s second acquisition of the summer. When he turns 18 in 2025, he won’t be able to join the group.

Why Chelsea signed Christopher Nkunku?

Chelsea was reportedly prepared to pay more than the 25-year-old’s €60 million release clause in October, according to a report from Sky Sports News, but it appears they have now decided to honour that price.

Nkunku, a product of the Paris Saint-Germain youth programme, expressed his extreme happiness at joining Chelsea.

“A significant effort was made to get me to the club, and I am looking forward to getting to know my new coach and teammates as well as showcasing my abilities on the pitch for the Chelsea faithful.

“After playing in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the world’s top leagues. This challenge excites me much, and I will be honoured to wear the Chelsea shirt.
