Ben Chilwell has revealed the compliment he received from Pep Guardiola amid reports the Manchester City boss is interested in taking the Leicester full-back to the Etihad this summer.

City are believed to be interested in signing a left-back this summer as they look to strengthen their squad, following Benjamin Mendy’s continued struggles with injury.

Chilwell was involved in a conversation with the Spaniard following Leicester’s 1-0 defeat to the champions last month, with the 22-year-old revealing Guardiola’s compliments which are sure to increase transfer speculation surrounding the England international.

“Pep said he thought I was a really talented player and he wanted me to keep playing well, getting up and down the pitch and never going away from it.

“It was nice for such a successful manager to say I’m a good player. I’m at Leicester and with Brendan coming in we’re all loving him being there and that’s obviously where my head’s at.”
