Chelsea are yet to return with an improved offer for Alex Scott after Bournemouth snubbed a £64m bid earlier in the transfer window.
The West Londoners sought to tempt Bournemouth with an offer for Scott last month, and the midfielder’s situation remains unchanged.
Bournemouth consider Scott untouchable this summer, despite the 22-year-old rejecting a contract offer. Scott has two years to run on his deal with the Cherries and has shown no indication that he is prepared to extend.
Despite the player’s stance, Bournemouth are prepared to let Scott reach the final 12 months of his contract next summer.
Chelsea are not the only Premier League side courting Scott, though are so far the only side to have formalised interest with an offer. However, The Athletic are reporting that the Blues are yet to decide whether to return this window.
The situation could change should Enzo Fernandez depart. Manchester City are interested in signing the Argentina international, in the event Rodri leaves.
City are braced for a second bid from Barcelona for Rodri, who wants to return to La Liga. Should the 30-year-old leave, former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will target a reunion with Fernandez at the Etihad.
