Chelsea travel to face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday evening, as the Blues look to get back on track under Enzo Maresca.
It’s been a mixed start for the new man in charge, with four points from three Premier League games and unconvincing progress in the Europa Conference League. Chelsea were held to a draw by Crystal Palace before the international break, a reality check for the West Londoners after a six-goal win at Wolves in their previous game.
Maresca has continued to stress that there is no pressure to reach the top four this season, as Chelsea choose to take a patient approach with their inexperienced but expensively assembled squad. However, friction in the boardroom could change that stance and Maresca will want to show early signs that his team are progressing.

England team news
Chelsea’s squad travelled far and wide to represent their countries during the international break and assessments will be made on the condition of their players upon their return. Levi Colwill made his competitive debut for England in their UEFA Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, while there were first international call ups for Noni Madueke (England) and Renato Veiga (Portugal).
Wesley Fofana and Cole Palmer withdrew from international duty this month after being called up by France and England respectively. The duo have instead continued to work on their fitness as the club’s Cobham training ground.

Maresca has issues at right-back, with Reece James still sidelined with a hamstring problem. Malo Gusto is also a major doubt after being forced off against Crystal Palace before the international break with a thigh injury. He withdrew from the France U21 squad as a result.
Chelsea could hand a debut to Jadon Sancho this weekend, who arrived on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United on deadline day. The 24-year-old was introduced to the crowd ahead of the draw with Palace and is now eligible to feature. He arrives as a replacement for Raheem Sterling, who moved on loan to Arsenal on the final day of the window.
