Chelsea have been dealt a major injury blow with the news that their hugely impressive 17-year-old Ethan Ampadu has suffered a serious injury.
According to reports in the London Evening Standard the talented youngster fractured his ankle while playing for the Blues in their 4-2 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League.
Ampadu has been one of the shining lights, in what otherwise, has been a pretty difficult season for the Stamford Bridge club.
He made his debut for Chelsea last September in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest, just six days after his 17th birthday.
The versatile youngster has featured seven times for Antonio Conte’s side this season and has also been capped twice by Wales.
Ampadu has shown a maturity and composure that belies his tender years in each of his performances, whilst also looking equally comfortable at either centre-back or defensive midfield.
Chelsea will be hopeful he recovers fully and is ready to play a major part for the club next season.
