Mykhailo Mudryk has cut short his post-Euro 2024 break to report back early for pre-season training with Chelsea.
Mudryk has endured a challenging 18 months at Chelsea with the winger having struggled to live up to the expectations that arrived with his £88.5m price tag.
The Ukraine international arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk in a big-money deal in January 2023, as the Blues beat Arsenal to his signature. However, Mudryk scored just five league goals in 31 appearances last season, 13 of which came from the bench.
Ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, the 23-year-old is keen to make an impression on new head coach Enzo Maresca. Mudryk has returned early from his post-Euro 2024 break after representing Ukraine this summer to begin preparations for the Premier League campaign.
He was involved in a double session on day one of pre-season that included medical and fitness tests, as he looks to start the new season at peak fitness.
Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia were also involved after injury-hit seasons in 2023-24. The latter featured for just 32 minutes in the Premier League last season after his £52m arrival from Southampton last summer.
