Chelsea want to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez according to reports in Spain.
Goalkeeper Jan Oblak and striker Antoine Griezmann are often the most sought after Atletico Madrid assets, but according to Spanish publication Don Balon, Chelsea have made what they describe as a crazy offer for Saul Niguez.
They claim that Chelsea have declared that they will pay up to €80 million for the services of the Spanish International with Antonio Conte said to be ‘enamoured’ with the midfielder.
However, Niguez has recently signed a new EIGHT year deal at the Wanda Metropolitano, which includes a staggering €150 million release clause, with Diego Simeone thought to be willing to resist any offers below that fee.
The player is also calm and happy at the La Liga club, and is not looking for a move.
The message from Atletico is clear. The player is not for sale.
Saul has previously attracted the attentions of Manchester United, who see him as a natural successor to Michael Carrick.
