Enzo Maresca’s side meet the MLS outfit at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The West Londoners earned their place at the reformatted competition after winning the Champions League in 2021.

LAFC booked their spot after beating Club America in a play-off tie last month. Last season, Steve Cherundolo’s side topped the Western Conference in Major League Soccer and won the US Open Cup.

There could be debuts for several new signings at Chelsea, with Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr all part of the squad in the United States. Delap has joined from Ipswich in a £30m deal and will battle Nicolas Jackson for the centre-forward role.
Andrey Santos is also with the team after an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg in France.
Chelsea have left a number of high-profile names at home. Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Axel Disasi and Djordje Petrovic are among the players not included as the quartet seek transfers away from West London.
Mykhailo Mudryk is still serving a provisional ban for failing a doping test, while Wesley Fofana is out through injury.
