Chelsea urged to sell Courtois to Real Madrid

With just five days left of the transfer window, the agent of Thibaut Courtois has pleaded with Chelsea to allow his client to move to Real Madrid.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move to the European Champions this summer, with a £35 million deal thought to be on the table.

However, with just a week until the transfer window ‘slams shut’, Chelsea are still yet to find a replacement for the 26-year-old, which is one of the conditions of sanctioning Courtois’ transfer.

Now, Courtois’ agent, Christophe Henrotay, has called on the Premier League club to show his client some compassion by allowing him to return to Madrid to be closer to his children, who currently live in the Spanish capital.

“I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid.’’ Henrotay said in quotes carried by Sky Sports.

“For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept.”

Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri told the press on Friday that he was unsure whether Courtois will stay or go before the August 9 deadline:

“At the moment Courtois is the goalkeeper of Chelsea.

“I don’t know in the future. It depends on the club, it depends especially on him, but I hope Courtois will be our goalkeeper.”
