French side Nice have confirmed that they are interested in signing Olivier Giroud in the summer on a free transfer.
Giroud swapped Arsenal for Chelsea back in January 2018, but has failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Stamford Bridge, starting just seven Premier League games this season.
He has however been a regular in Maurizio Sarri’s Europa League starting XI, where he is the competitions top scorer with 10 goals, and the Italian has recently announced that the club intend to trigger an option to extend his contract by a further year.
However, the president of Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, Gauthier Ganaye, has confirmed that the France international striker is one of the clubs transfer targets, although admitted that he is ‘really expensive’.
“He is at the end of his contract, he still performs well at his age,” Ganaye told Telefoot.
“Come on, let’s tell you it’s possible. His salary? Yeah, it’s really expensive.”
Chelsea face Burnley in the Premier League this evening where they will look to take advantage of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham’s slip-ups this weekend.
