Chelsea have been told that January transfer target Arturo Vidal is not for sale.
The Blues have been linked with making a move for the Chilean midfielder in recent weeks, as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his midfield.
However, their hopes of landing him this month have been dealt a crushing blow after Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes declared that Vidal, along with everyone else in his squad, was not for sale. The 72-year-old said:
“There’s been no contact between Chelsea and Bayern.
“We won’t sell Arturo Vidal or any other player during the winter market.”
Antonio Conte had recently hinted at a move for the Chilean midfielder with whom he worked with during the pair’s respective time at Juventus.
The Italian said:
“Arturo is a fantastic player, I have a great respect for Arturo, and we spent many years in Juventus together.
“If we go to war, I’d always want him with me.”
Chelsea have however managed to strengthen their midfield slightly already by adding Ross Barkley to their ranks after he completed a £15m move from Everton earlier this week.
