Manchester United could be about to frustrate Chelsea’s transfer plans once again as they close in on the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko according to reports.
Having already swooping in under the radar to sign Romelu Lukaku from under the Blues noses, the Red Devil’s are claimed to be closing in on the signing of the Monaco midfielder.
The Blue have been linked with making a £35m move for 22-year-old for several months, however according to The Sun, that deal has hit the rails.
The rumours were that Manchester United would sign Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic once the Bakayoko deal was completed, but following their move for Lukaku, Chelsea were believed to be unwilling to do business for the Serbian.
However, if these reports are correct, Manchester United could have the last laugh once again by signing another of Antonio Conte’s primary targets.
Manchester United are in the market for a new defensive midfielder to help release the shackles from Paul Pogba, and have been linked with a move for Bakayoko’s Monaco teammate Fabinho as well as Spurs midfielder Eric Dier.
The move would further frustrate Antonio Conte who has been left unhappy with the club’s progress in this summer’s transfer market. The club have so far only signed Willy Caballero and Antonio Rudiger, who today signed for £34m
