Chelsea are planning a shock move for Jamie Vardy according to reports.
The Mirror are reporting that the Premier League champions are considering a move for the England striker as they look to replace Diego Costa.
The striker was pivotal in Leicester’s fairytale title success in 2015/16, scoring 15 goals.
He was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, but turned the move down, preferring to continue with the Foxes.
However with their single season on Champions League football behind them now, Vardy may be tempted to finally leave.
As well as Diego Costa’s expected departure, there are also concerns surrounding the future of Michy Batshuayi, who has been linked with a move away from the club, leaving Chelsea with a need to sign an extra striker.
Vardy would fit that bill, as at 30-years-old, he would be cheaper than some of the younger alternatives.
Vardy has already made a fine start to the Premier League campaign, scoring two goals in the opening day fixture against his former suitors Arsenal.
Chelsea are also keen to sign Vardy’s Leicester teammate Danny Drinkwater.
