Chelsea are to end their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches.
According to Mediaset, the Premier League champions will end their interest in the Portuguese midfielder as they focus their attentions on Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
We brought you news earlier this week that Antonio Conte was targeting the England international as he looks to bolster his midfield. A move from Drinkwater would see him reunited with N’Golo Kante, with who he made an an excellent partnership with at Leicester as they helped the Foxes towards the most magical fairy tale story in Premier League history.
Chelsea have already splashed out £35m on Tiemoue Bakayoko, the same amount they received for Nemanja Matic, who moved to Manchester United on Tuesday.
However, with the additional demands of Champions League football to contend with, Conte wants to add more numbers to his squad. He is believed to have made enquiries about Renato Sanches following Chelsea’s pre-season game against Bayern in China last month.
The Italian is now ready to end his pursuit to focus on Drinkwater, although he is not willing to spend more than £30m on him.
Sanches meanwhile has also attracted attention from AC Milan.
