Chelsea will battle Barcelona in a bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey according to reports today.
According to The Sun, The Blues have scouted the Jamaican International on three occasion and are ready to make a move to bring him to Stamford Bridge in January, in a deal worth around £20m.
The winger only moved to the Bundesliga side 12 months ago from Belgian side Genk, with speculation at the time linked him with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea. However he chose to move to Germany where he has continued his impressive career.
The report claims Chelsea have resurrected that interest in the 20-year-old and are getting ready to make a January move for him, but are willing to send him back to Leverkusen on loan in order for him to continue his development.
The winger has clearly followed in the footsteps of plenty of others from Jamaica, and is thought to be one of the fastest players in Europe’s top divisions.
He is also attracting attention from La Liga leaders Barcelona, but the Blues hope that their offer to send him back on loan, as well as the prospect of the German side making a small profit in the player is enough to swing the deal in their direction.
