Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will be buoyed by the news that Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has agreed to let Yannick Carrasco leave the club in January, report The Sun.
The Stamford Bridge club attempted to sign the talented attacker in the summer, but their advances were rebuffed by the La Liga side once it became clear that their transfer ban would be upheld.
Carrasco moved to Madrid from Monaco in 2015 and became a key part of Simeone’s side that has been so impressive in the Champions League in recent years.
The skillful Belgium international has fallen down the pecking order at Atletico this season however, and the club are said to be eager to cash in on him to raise funds for a rebuild of their squad starting in January.
Chelsea boss Conte has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his squad in attacking areas, and Carrasco has proven pedigree at the top level so a move to London may well suit both parties.
