Chelsea have made Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford their number one target to replace Thibaut Courtois between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.
Pickford only moved to Goodison Park last season and although it was far from an ideal season for the Toffees, the 24-year-old ‘keeper put in a string of impressive performances, which saw him win the clubs player of the year award.
His stock rose further in Russia this summer, after he put in a series of superb displays as Gareth Southgate’s young England side reached the semi-final of the World Cup.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have now decided that Pickford is the man they want to replace want away shot stopper Thibaut Courtois, although Everton are said to be determined to keep hold of their man.
Courtois has been heavily linked with a move to 13 time European Champions Real Madrid for several months now and the player himself is said to want a move to the Spanish capital, as his two young kids live there with their mother.
Chelsea are however, unwilling to sanction Courtois’ move until they sign a replacement.
